  • Once finished, adjust the size down to the color contrast.

Step 2: HTV Selection

  • Use Flock or Puff HTV but depending on your preference, you may use other HTV types.
  • Through layering, have multiple design colors.

Step 3: Design Cutting

  • "Mirror" is the design to cut the right side. (Shiny side down, dull side up facing the machine's blade)
  • Load your HTV to your cutting machine with the appropriate cut settings.

Step 4: Weeding

  • Remove excess Vinyl using weeding tools.

Back-to-School DIY #2: DIY Fabric Face Mask Pouch and Face Mask with HTV

The school bus is buzzing in the front house; your child hops in and waves goodbye to you… --- Reality check, your kiddos are already grown up!

After the entire plot twist due to the pandemic, I believe parents, especially moms, tend to feel more emotional roller coaster ride on their kid's first day. They feel joy! They are proud to see their kids walking tall with their backpacks on… They experience a little "SEPANX" or separation anxiety! When silence fills the house and missing their kids who aren't around for school. With that, parents will always be parents. They'll probably do it if they can look after their kids in school and ensure their security.

Mommies or daddies erase your worry about your child's health safety without you around them! Instead, let the Customized Fabric Face Mask Pouch and Face Mask Idea do the job for you! In this fun and purpose-worthy idea, be constantly on guard while your child embraces their independence and gets back their lost school life again!

Materials Needed:

  • Standard HTV (or any preferred HTV)
  • Heat Press, Easy Press or Iron
  • Cutting Machine (Silhouette or Cricut)
  • Blank Canvas or Fabric Envelope of any color ( Pre-made, purchased, or assembled through sewing)
  • Blank Fabric Facemask of any color (Pre-made, purchased, made through sewing)
  • Heat Cover Sheet (Parchment Paper or Teflon Sheet)
  • Weeding Tools
  • Squeegee

Steps in making DIY Fabric Face Mask Pouch and Face Mask with HTV

In this customized idea for Fabric Envelope for Facemask and Face Mask, you may personally sew both of the subjects for this DIY using free patterns or templates downloadable online. Assembling each item takes only 10 to 15 minutes to complete.

Step 1: Design Selection and Creation

  • Personally create a design or download a cut file online for the fabric envelope.
  • For fabric facemasks, check the free facemask designer template online. This site contains templates, fonts, or clip art that quickly size out on your facemask's surface, cutting machine, and printer.

Step 2: HTV Selection

  • Use standard HTV, or other HTV suited to your fabric facemask and fabric envelope
  • Layering is also possible.

Step 3: Design Cutting

  • Mirror the design.
  • Load the HTV with the correct cut settings.

Step 4: Weeding

  • Remove excess Vinyl.

Step 5: Heat Application

  • Lay your fabric envelope flat and place your image on the front face. To avoid lifted seams insert a folded cloth inside of it to create an even surface.
  • For the fabric face mask, the placement of your design depends on the type of face mask used. The Flat facemask without a seam will be the easiest to decorate and position. The Flat Mask with stitching needs a heat press pillow to raise an even surface above the hem. The Center Seam Mask is usually difficult to decorate because the center seam affects the nose, chin, and mouth part of the mask. Meanwhile, this mask type can give more opportunities to provide a great angle to place a design.
  • In adhesion of HTV, always follow the manufacturer's instructions for the Vinyl used. You may use Heat Press, but if you want to reach the corner sides for a good finish of adhesion, use iron or Easy Press.
  • Use a cover sheet to protect the design.

Step 6: Removal of the Carrier Sheet

  • Peel off the carrier sheet once it's ready.
